Christ Episcopal Church
 Praying and Serving

Our Youth Group comprises youth grades 6-12.

We meet each Sunday during the school year from 4pm-6pm in the parish hall of Christ Church.  Each week we focus on a different key element of a Christian group:  Study, Worship/Spiritual, Fun, and Service.  Of course, we build community every step of the way.

If you would like to see photos of some of our Youth Group activities, send an e-mail to Fr. Mark (markdmeyer@msn.com), and he'll send you a link.

Thank you for your support!

Jackie Robinson was the first African-American to play major league baseball. While breaking baseball's "color barrier," he faced jeering crowds in every stadium.  While playing one day in his home stadium in Brooklyn, he committed an error.  His own fans began to ridicule him.  He stood at second base, humiliated, while the fans jeered.
Then shortstop "Pee Wee" Reese came over and stood next to him.  He put his arm around Jackie Robinson and faced the crowd.  The fans grew quiet.  Robinson later said that arm around his shoulder saved his career.

How might you be a friend to someone who is unpopular?

Mission Trip to Juarez

From July 13-July 21 our Youth Group went on a Mission Trip to build a house for the Gurrola family in Juarez, Mexico.  Jose Gurrola Solis and Dora Alicia Flores Vasquez have one son, Jose (10 yrs).  Jose supports the family by working for 60.00 USD a week in a factory which makes Eureka vacuum cleaners.

We thank all of you for your support and prayers.  We felt them!  It was an amazing trip.  Our youth will be making a presentation about the Mission during the 9:00am Eucharist service on Sunday, August 17.  Please make plans to attend worship that day!

Fundraiser

Barb Smith and Jim Maxon have very generously offered to let us sell copies of their photo montage "The Churches of Canon City".  Jim uses a medium format Mamiya FILM camera, and develops his black-and-white photos himself.  The large matted photos are $45 each.  Call the church office at 275-2028 to order one!
